Li·ber·a·ti·o

From the Latin:

A setting free, which compels one to act in a manner befitting a freed-person, namely: generous and kind.

A four-year core class for all Narthex learners,

Liberatio is an invitation into

a Christian imagination for flourishing.

Like all Narthex endeavors, this class extends beyond reading texts on church history, Scripture, and spiritual formation.

Liberatio also bids Narthex members to participate in local church communities, reflect on the witness of Christ’s body through the ages, and practice spiritual disciplines offered by church fathers & mothers.

At the end of their first year, learners prayerfully consider committing themselves in service and learning to a local congregation for the duration of their Narthex journey. In subsequent years, Narthex members learn to lean on their church community for guidance on faithful living, Scriptural interpretation, and spiritual direction.

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
    because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
to set the oppressed free,
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

-Jesus (Luke 4, Isaiah 61)
